Brisbane Festival

Well it has been a while since I wrote but that is because I needed some fun things to put up here for all of you to read. So the month of September was Brisbane Festival where all different kinds or acts/performers and things to see came to town.
We decided to see some of these lovely shows and see what this city has to offer. This is what we found...

The first day we had a show I had the day off and decided I wanted to go to the Brisbane Flower Market. I don't know why but I always wish to see flower markets like the big one in My Fair Lady where there are thousands upon thousands of flowers every where. Let's just say it wasn't like the movie :)
However there were some gorgeous flowers and some that I didn't know of.

Beautiful Tulips

Ranunculus

Banksia

King Protea

Pin Cushions

Daisies

Anemones- In my favorite color

Leuco's

Bird of Paradise

Later that night we went to a one man show called Leo where a man was in a three walled room (kind of) and didn't have to work with gravity. What looked like him sitting on the floor to us was him actually leaning against the wall to him. It was really well done.

The next show we went to was a Columbian Circus called Urban. They were amazing! They told different stories about their lives in Columbia thru dancing and arieal tricks. They were so energetic and you could tell that they loved what they were doing; even got the audience cheering and answering their questions.

Kyra with one of the performers

The next show Casis Circus- Knee Deep. They were very good. It reminded me of Cirque D'Solie but watching a dress rehearsal. It was only 5 people doing amazing things with their bodies and making different shapes with them.

Later that week we saw one called La Soiree! It was a cabaret show that was very funny! There were dance performers. Funny puppets that sang to old songs and singers as well. There was one lady that was an amazing singer and her songs were dirty and funny.

We went and saw a couple shows that weren't very good like a adaptation of Wizard of Oz and The Festival of Toy Music.

We were really excited for our Sunday night event which was going to the ballet and seeing the Russian ballet do Swan Lake. Well that turned in to a cluster of a night haha. To start off I noticed Kyra's ticket said the Nutcracker not Swan Lake. So we were already confused about that. Then when we went to catch the bus the bus had stopped running at that stop about 30min before even though the bus website said it was still running. So we had to go catch a different bus and then a train. Once off the train we realized we were in a kind of sketchy area. We walked fast and came up to the building the ballet was in. However, there were no cars or anything in the parking lot! Well we went in anyway and apparently we were in the right building but it was not THE Russian Ballet it was a different group doing it based off of the Russian Ballet hahaha of course. So we got a couple glasses of wine before the show and went in to watch the ballet (only 30 people total there). We were front row! Well lets just say if any of you want to see a ballet don't sit front row, you get to see everything up close and personal! haha. Now during the ballet the performers would talk ON stage and make faces at other ballerinas when they were dancing.; not very professional. Let's just say that seeing their performance made me so happy that I have seen good ballet companies perform.

Now we only have one more day left of work and then in 5 days or so we are off onto our cruise around New Zealand for TWO weeks! So excited :)

Ta ta for now! Just until after the Cruise!
